  • Somehow, old legends become really cool when they start riding motorcycles on fire. Marvel Comics tells the story of motorcycle stuntman Johnny Blaze, who gives his soul to Mephisto, the devil, via a blood contract in exchange for the health of Crash Simpson, his adoptive father. Though Simpson’s cancer is cured, he dies shortly thereafter in a motorcycle accident. Mephisto nevertheless considers their contract fulfilled and has bound Blaze’s spirit with that of Zarathos, causing him to transform into the Ghost Rider in the presence of evil. In Blaze’s incarnation of this vengeful spirit, the Ghost Rider takes the form of a skeleton surrounded by fire, clad in leather and chains, who rides a motorcycle that looks as if it has been forged in the fiery depths of Hell itself. Using the penance stare, the Ghost Rider protects the innocent by capturing evil souls. Torn between his two alter egos, Johnny Blaze remains in conflict, knowing that he sold his soul for the love of a parent and attempting to control his spirit. Incorporating fire and spikes inspired by the Ghost Rider, this necklace appears to have been set on fire by carnelian chips. Orli says, “This is a four-dimensional piece, if you will, and I wanted to figuratively set it on fire. Carnelian has a special translucence that allows its colors to become brilliant when exposed directly to light.”
  • Druzy, carnelian, plastic, aluminum, gunmetal-plated, silver-plated, sterling silver, nickel silver
  • As a bona fide comic book enthusiast, Orli celebrates the Marvel Comics multiverse, including the art and times of Stan Lee and his colleagues Jack Kirby, Len Wein, and Chris Claremont. Drawing inspiration from the flawed and conflicted heroes emerging and reemerging during the Silver and Bronze Ages, this collection capitalizes on the decisive colors, bold lines, and action-packed symbolic resonance of the genre.

    Let’s get radioactive.

Like many of us, Orli has always harbored a fascination with motorcycles. The experience of riding a motorcycle has captured the popular imagination for decades. It encompasses the freedom of movement on the open road and the ability to take in the sights and smells of nature at your own pace. The lone rider on a vast expanse of highway, contemplating the natural world and feeling the profound openness of immense space, is an intriguing and inspiring image. As biker jargon, ironside refers to the parts and detailing comprising the top half of a motorcycle. Orli’s Ironside takes iconic features of motorcycle style, including spikes, chains, and suedes, and presents an elegant collection of chopper-inspired work drawing its aesthetic from the ostentatious costume jewelry of the Eighties, when bigger was always better.

    Let’s get ironsided.
